Mary River Catchment Coordinating Committee

Dear landholder.

Each year the Mary River Catchment Coordinating Committee provides assistance to landholders in the Sunshine Coast hinterland to access funding support through the Sunshine Coast Council’s annual Landholder Environment Grant (LEG) program; funded by your Environment Levy. Support up to $15,000 per property is available through for on-ground projects that help protect and enhance the natural values of the area. More than 95% of projects that the MRCCC assists with are successful in obtaining funding through this fabulous program. Eligible projects include: 

·          – stock exclusion fencing to protect waterways and other ecologically significant areas

·          – off-stream watering systems

·          – environmental weed control

·          – stream bank stabilisation

·          – erosion control

·          – revegetation

The application process is accessed on-line and is multi-staged:

1.      The first stage is to decide what your project will look like. I can help you with that through a property visit and planning session with you (please book this with me ASAP as I’ll be working remotely for a while from the 12^th July).

2.      Submit an ‘Expression Of Interest’ (EOI). EOIs can be submitted from the 8^th July to the 12^th August 2024.

3.      You will be visited by a Conservation Officer from the Sunshine Coast Council to approve your project and activate your application for funding.

4.      Fill out and submit the application by mid-October 2024. I am available to assist you one-on-one through this process; project planning, mapping, budget development. Your project may dove-tail into other MRCCC programs that can enhance the outcomes of your project and give you further assistance.

You will hear if you are successful late in the year and the funds will be available for you to use during 2025.
