The hall’s floor.

The Management Committee is investigating sanding and applying a timber coating to the floor.

The frequent hiring of the hall for weddings has highlighted the need to protect the floor from wear and tear.

Food and drink stains

The movement of hired furniture and equipment in and out of the hall contributes to the wear.

Stratches

The hall’s butt joined  floor is made from Crows Ash, a hard-wearing Australian hardwood, used particularly in halls because its greasy surface made it more suitable for dancing.

On the 10th of October, a working bee will be held to punch the nails in the hall’s floor.

THE WORKING BEE

The hall was cleaned inside and out, the grounds mowed and wippersnipped, the under stage storage area rearranged and maintenance on the fairy lights carried out.

The exhaust hood above the stove was completed with the vent extended to the ceiling.

The underground power cable to the fire shed was diverted to a safer position

It was at risk of being damaged by the ride-on mower
