The hall has acquired nine second-hand folding tables. They will providing better facilities for hirers while a grant is sourced for a set of new tables.

This makes a total of eleven plastic folding tables plus our three existing wooden folding tables (now repaired) , this complements our one hundred and fifteen chairs.

Sunshine Coast Council has constructed piped entry  crossings into the hall and the fire shed parking areas.

The crossings

Most of the council supplied road-base went into the crossings and vehicle access to the fire shed.

Councillor Greg Rogerson and Sunshine Coast Council provided the funds to construct the crossings, with Greg instrumental in moving the project along.

Treasurer and Secretary conducting internet banking transactions with a wireless internet connected laptop on the boot of a car somewhere where there is also mobile phone reception (needed to receive from our bank a text with a confirming password).

The Council supplied road-base for the installation of piped crossings for the hall and fire shed. Ten loads of ground up damaged asphalt road material were delivered.

Our 2013 year AGM

At the AGM, Steve Walker our President for the last five years,  resigned his position. Steve became President at the very  start of the Obi Obi Hall renovation and has been a big part of the transformation of the hall to its now fully functioning state.

At the AGM the 2013 year auditor’s report was presented, the correspondence for the 2013 year reviewed and a new Management Committee  elected.

Matt Trace (LNP Candidate for Nicklin) attended the AGM.

A morning working bee will be held at the hall next Saturday the 9th of August at 9.00 am.

Repairs are required to the fairy lights, folding tables and hall fittings. The storage areas need to be re-arranged and a water point needs to be installed at the front of the hall.

Sunshine Coast Council has provided the hall with five truck loads of recycled road base to use to improve the Stave Rd parking areas.

Celebrate with Mary – From Gympie to Connondale

The aim of the Celebrate with Mary project is to encourage more people to use the many businesses in the Mary Valley for any type of celebrations, weddings, anniversaries and birthdays.
Over thirty businesses are initially involved, all from the celebration industry within the Mary Valley – Accommodation, Caterers, Celebrant, Decorators, Entertainment, Floral, Photography, Party Hire, Transportation and Reception Venues.

Celebrate with Mary will promote Mary Valley businesses via facebook and an eBook.

The gathering started with refreshments outside around the fire.

The Association’s 2014 Annual General Meeting will be held at the Obi Obi Hall, 7.30pm on Thursday the 17.07.2014.

.

On the 22nd of July at the hall, a launch party will be held for a new Mary Vally project called “Celebrate with Mary”. This locally organized  project aims to encourage people to patronize the many Mary Valley businesses involved in the celebration industry.

.

OUR TENTH WEDDING

7.30am on a very frosty morning last Saturday the 12th of July, setting up for Stewie and Kelsey’s  outside wedding.

The Hall. Extra power points and light switches have been installed at the hall. This will supply power for the dishwasher and extraction fan in the kitchen and an extra fridge in the stage storage room. The spot lights now have a permanent power supply with a stage controlled switch.

The Fire shed. It is presently being internally lined out with plasterboard, with tiling, painting, and the completion of the plumbing and electrical work to follow.
